“It’s so important for me to have a view well beyond the place I live; a view of the world. It’s an essential part of living.”

Rob Mills

The Hampden Penthouse, designed and delivered by Rob Mills Architecture & Interiors, crowns a boutique collection of nine large-scale apartment residences on a tree-lined corner of Armadale, one of the city’s most coveted addresses.

The penthouse is a pure expression of joy, from the expansive interiors flooded with sunlight and enriched by color to the rooftop patio encircling the building to provide uninterrupted views framed by nature.

A hallmark of the designer's approach to interiors is the combination of surfaces and tones that work together in concert, allowing the eye to travel uninterrupted across a space. Various rooms are infused with color, and space is afforded for the residents' private collections gathered over a lifetime of furniture and art appreciation.

As the living spaces are enveloped by large sheets of glass open to the sky and panoramic views, the decision was made to anchor the kitchen space in dark textures. Stone flooring and dark-toned surfaces were chosen to create a sense of solidity and permanence. Black appliances by Wolf and Sub-Zero were selected so the kitchen could sit seamlessly among the dark cabinetry and benchtops.

Panoramic views are afforded over the streets of Armadale, towards the city, and beyond to the bay. Every interior space looks outward into a vibrant garden, planted as a boundary of the terrace that encircles the penthouse.
